Finally I got my hand on the SW271 27" 16:9 4K IPS Monitor from BenQ.

I was really happy to receive the monitor from them was looking for a  monitor which can support my photo editing needs & heard many good things about BenQ SW271.

In market 1000’s of monitors available but for us Photographers, Graphic Artist’s we require monitors which can generate precise color combinations, can show us perfect quality of the image without fail. I have had bad experienced with different monitors even after doing calibration, our cameras evolved with higher resolution with 8,10,14 bit files & to keep up we do require 4k resolution monitors with true color display & I found them in Benq SW271.

The Monitor comes well packed & with it’s own Calibration Report. As mentioned the monitor is easily maneuverable depending on your sitting height or how tall you are & that’s very comfortable & easily accommodates to your desired position, on the other hand it’s easy rotation for landscape & Portrait mode really suits one’s editing or using style.

Even though it comes calibrated it is best to calibrate every now & then but I haven’t seen any issue from the time I start using it. The monitor uses IPS panel & can display 1.07 billion colors & 10bit color reproduction & with it’s high response time I didn’t face any lag while playing movies or video games.

Except these what I like most is the built in USB3 hub with Type C Thunderbolt 3 port, HDMI inputs, SD Card Reader & yes it has it’s own Microphone Jack.

This is the most important part for me as I mentioned earlier I have tested many but never liked any of them but this monitor accurately shows the colors even the contrast which is very important if you are into printing, as it’s essential to see the variation & the gradation of those colors. It has 100% sRGB & 99% AdobeRGB coverage.

We photographers always cry for HDR images, which shows perfect details in shadow & in highlighted areas but general monitors never shows up those colors & we end up with different variations on our images & different device shows different colors & when we print we either end up with dark or over bright or faded images.

I personally needed a 4k monitor as I was using 21” monitor which was small for comfortable viewing & a native 4k monitor without scaling is very pleasing to eyes, with the use palate master & calibrator it can be fine-tuned for the best color performance & this resolution provides more than enough space for working with several programs on at the same time so using 2 different software or side by side works are very easy.

Hotkey Puck

The monitor comes with Hotkey Puck which can be used to switch between Adobe RGB, sRGB & B&W mode on the other hand the buttons can be customized too to change brightness, contrast etc.

Overall Verdict

High Image quality

Good Color performance

Easy Orientation mode

Value for money

Built-in USB hub card reader.

I am using 2 monitor display & this monitor is well designed, and the hotkey makes it easier and quicker to change settings, and the built-in USB3 hub with SD card reader is an excellent addition. The stand gives a reasonable range of adjustments & ability to tilt swivel the screen into different orientation. It's an ultra high-resolution monitor to edit high resolution images to view to edit 4K video  the BenQ SW271 is a great choice for people like us & as I said the monitor is particularly suited for Photographers, Designers and Graphic artists.
